How to pay with Bitcoin.
You don’t need to be a crypto expert. If you’ve ever used Cash App, Wealthsimple, or Newton, you can pay a Lumera order in under 3 minutes. Here’s exactly what to do.
The TL;DR
There is no payment processor in the middle. After checkout you’re shown our own Bitcoin wallet address, a QR code, and the exact BTC amount for your order (the CAD rate is held for ~30 minutes). You send the exact amount from any wallet, we confirm it on-chain, and your order ships. That’s it.
Get crypto first
Canadian buyers can buy Bitcoin from a regulated exchange. The fastest, lowest-friction options:
- Shakepay (shakepay.com): Canadian, no buy/sell fees, Interac e-Transfer deposits clear in minutes. Most popular pick.
- Newton (newton.co): Canadian, low spreads, fast verification.
- Wealthsimple Crypto: if you already have a Wealthsimple account, you can buy BTC in the same app.
Sign-up takes ~5 minutes (driver’s licence + selfie for KYC). Fund with an Interac e-Transfer from your bank. Buy slightly more than your Lumera order total to cover the on-chain network fee (roughly $1-$5).
Place your order
- Add products to cart on our catalog.
- Click Checkout, fill in shipping details.
- Choose Bitcoin as your payment method (Interac e-Transfer is the other option).
- Click Place order. You’ll be taken to a payment page showing our wallet address and the exact BTC amount.
Send the payment
The payment page shows a QR code, our Bitcoin address, and the exact amount (e.g. “Send 0.000312 BTC”). The rate is held for about 30 minutes.
- In your wallet app: hit Send or Scan QR, point your phone camera at the QR code. The address (and amount, in most wallets) auto-fills.
- Double-check the amount matches, then confirm in your wallet.
- Wait for one network confirmation — typically 10-30 minutes.
- Keep your order number (
LM-XXXX) from the confirmation page; you can watch status any time in your account.
When does Lumera ship?
As soon as we see your payment confirm on-chain, your order moves to processing and you’ll get an email confirmation. Orders ship the next business day.
Common questions
Is this anonymous?
Bitcoin on-chain is pseudonymous. Transactions are visible on the blockchain but tied to addresses, not identities. Your payment goes directly to our own wallet — there is no third-party payment processor, so no payment data is shared with anyone.
What if I send the wrong amount?
Small rounding differences are fine. If you underpaid or overpaid significantly, email support@lumerapeptide.com with your order number and the transaction ID from your wallet — we reconcile against the blockchain and sort it out.
What if my payment doesn’t show up?
Bitcoin payments need 1 network confirmation before we mark them paid — typically 10-30 minutes. If 90 minutes pass and your order is still pending, email us your order number (LM-XXXX) and the transaction ID from your wallet and we’ll trace it on-chain.
Can I pay with regular money?
Yes. Lumera Labs accepts Interac e-Transfer from any major Canadian bank account at checkout. Funds typically confirm in 5-30 minutes and we process your order the same day and ship the next business day. We do not accept credit or debit cards because mainstream merchant acquirers restrict research chemicals as a category.
Why do you accept crypto?
Lower fees (no 3% Visa cut), zero chargeback fraud, and faster international settlement, which means we can pass the savings on to researchers. We also believe paying for your own laboratory reagents shouldn’t require banking-system permission slips.
